Environmental Action Plan

The Environmental Action Plan (2018 - 2022) is designed to help to drive and implement environmental sustainability initiatives across Council and within the community, the plan is also responsive to Council’s sustainability and environmental Strategic Directions.

In 2002 and again in 2008, Council has previously adopted an Environmental Action Plan.

The actions that form the Environmental Action Plan 2018-2022 are the culmination of a detailed review of the strategies and actions outlined in the Environmental Action Plan 2008-2011. Actions were also decided upon from the outcomes of a series of Workshops held with Elected Members; Administration; the community; a Community Stakeholder Group Workshop, and a Community Survey to identify priorities and actions.

These actions are delivered under five key themes that have been identified and composed through the consultation process. The key themes are integral for shaping a framework within which the actions will operate, and are:

  • Enabling a Sustainable Community
  • Environmental Education
  • Green Procurement and Economic Development
  • Sustainable Resource Management
  • Enhancing Local Biodiversity
